Human brains don’t fully develop until age 25, so for children under 12, there’s still a long way to go. At their age, your child spends a lot of time in the limbic system; the emotional center of the brain. When children feel those BIG FEELINGS, they’re unable to access the prefrontal cortex; the part of the brain where logic lives. That’s not a time to try to teach or reason. Being trained on child brain development, your child’s teachers understand how to connect with their feelings, empathize and guide them to a calmer state, and teach them how to self-regulate BEFORE seeking solutions.

Between 3 and 5, their language, social, emotional, and cognitive skills are rapidly expanding. During this period, the stimulation they get is crucial and play-based learning allows children to explore, make sense of the world, use and develop their imagination and creativity. We use playful, activity-based learning to engage your child’s growing mind in ways they find inspiring. It may look like they’re just “playing” with colorful blocks, but your child is learning foundational math skills, like patterning and sequencing, as well as spatial awareness and fine motor skills.

Teacher-led instruction is important for introducing new activities and ideas, but well-trained teachers know when to step back and allow your child to immerse themself in the activity, to use their natural curiosity to seek and apply solutions. A teacher may step in when children are ready for the next new idea, but when a child can concentrate, explore, and use their imagination, the learning is organic and progressive.
